

4. Critical Thinking and Science & Environmental Studies
Migrant participants experienced activities that required analysis beyond the obvious. They were presented with tasks that required cooperation and decisive action through decisions based on values and understanding the purpose of the task. The results of these activities were related as transfer points to student’s personal lives.
Students also experienced lessons on survival skills, environmental awareness and a field trip in Yosemite National Park that included a tour of the Giant Sequoias.
The Assessment:
Participants reflected in their journals, the evaluation and during counseling sessions the importance of critical thinking/decision making in their future.
